The ARGOS Staffing Philosophy
The ARGOS Staffing Philosophy is designed to insure that our staff members bring a combination of rigorous academic training, relevant certifications, and real world experience to every engagement.
GCC practitioners are required to have a masters degree, extensive experience in IT/IS or operations at the Director or VP level, and a minimum of two years experience in formal audit work. We also require at least one relevant certification.
Practitioners in the IA Audit area are required to have an MBA, a CPA, at least one relevant certification, and a minimum of 3-5 years financial audit experience.
Following are the bio's for the three most senior leaders in the company:
Senior Argos Consultants
Roger J. Smith
CEO and Chairman of the board of Directors
Roger has had a long and diversified career. Mr. Smith worked at NASA’s Ames Research center for 15 years, making significant contributions to projects such as the first successful Martian Lander and the Lunar Prospector Satellite. From NASA Mr. Smith went on to three very successful startups, the most notable of which was Napster, the original online music company, where Mr. Smith was Executive Director of Operations. In that role Mr. Smith took that company from 10 people to 250 in the space of just 6 months and also built out a world class data center from a single T1 line to one that pushed a sustained 1Gigabit 24x7. Mr. Smith has been a student of IT Governance since the early days at Ames, where various governance frameworks were practiced. Mr. Smith holds a BSCS from Trinity University. He has worked extensively with ITIL, ISO, and CobiT and holds a CISSP Certification from ISC2.

James K Murphy
Senior Consultant and advisor to the Board of Directors
Mr. Murphy has extensive experience as a program manager and MIS Director; thereby making him a valuable asset for GCC consulting and risk appraisal. Mr. Murphy holds a BE from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Cornell University. He has gained his extensive experience while working for Arthur Andersen as the manager of an entire Consulting Division, BankAmerica Leasing and Capital Group as the Vice President, MIS, and as the Mainframe Rehosting Program Manager for Sun Microsystems. One other career note of interest is that Mr. Murphy successfully led the financial analysis and feasibility planning team for EXPO 86. Mr. Murphy is also certified in Six Sigma, parts 1 and 2.
